I was super nervous to have my wisdom teeth removed at the age of 41. I know, I know…I’m the last person that age with them left, everyone told me. Cut to the chase, let’s talk about the important things. The pain - I’m pretty much ok with pain, so I just took an anti anxiety medication an hour before, and then I did local numbing. A couple quick pokes in your gums, like a pinch, and I was completely numb. Make sure you get Exparel, which is a long lasting pain med that stays in your body for days. After that, I just alternated Tylenol and Advil for about 3 days. The time - those whole thing took less than an hour, I actually was so relaxed from the anti anxiety med, that I don’t really remember much. Swelling - NONE, however, I did follow the directions of icing like they mentioned. Time off work - I used PTO and requested time off work in advance, because I see people all day long at work, so I didn’t want to be in pain/be swollen. But, I probably could have went back to work in about 3 days. Cost - my insurance covered a good portion, so I only had to pay about $675. The team - I have never felt so much like a part of a dental family since I first came here. Dr. Shim is amazing! So kind, so smart, amazing bedside manner, he teaches while he works, so you know exactly what is going on. You are NEVER left wondering what is going to happen next, which definitely helps. He will say things like “you’re about to feel pressure” or “I’m now going to do this, and then we should be done in 2 minutes”. Yorde will make you feel so very comfortable, she is there whenever you need something. Pria is an old soul, you can tell it the moment you meet her, her energy is contagious and she is so very smart at her job. Tammy always makes me laugh, she just gets it. She has so much experience to go with all of her wit. Finally, someone who is behind the scenes but making all the trains run on time, is Lashawn, the office manager, who greets me by name when I arrive and it always makes me happy. Long story long, this team is amazing, and I am so glad I stumbled in here for a referral.

Amazing staff from every part of the process-- from the moment you walk through the door to leaving surgery! Everyone is so kind and genuinely happy to see you there. For wisdom teeth removal, they are so caring about your recovery process. 10/10 place!

I had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Emery this past week, and I only have positive things to say about both Dr. Emery and the office staff. The initial consultation was very informative, and Dr. Emery made sure I felt well-informed about the procedure. Sandy, who handles the insurance, was extremely responsive and helpful in navigating the process since it was out-of-network for me, requiring extra coordination to figure out coverage. The procedure itself went very smoothly. Dr. Emery ensured I was comfortable and that my pain was well-managed throughout. I was given clear post-op instructions and am recovering well. I highly recommend Dr. Emery and the Capital Center team!

Spent the last two years as a patient of Dr. Emery, it’s been a great two years. Having gone through several different surgeries prior to meeting Dr. Emery, one of which went very bad, it was a great experience to work with him. He is patient and understanding and alleviated many of my concerns, reassuring me he could restore and return my jaw and teeth to a healthy condition. He did just that, I am glad to have such a highly skilled competent individual to have helped me through the last two years!
