I went to Dr. Maffi trusting that his experience was just. I did an undereye fat transfer that was generally ok after round 1, but was very bumpy on my right eye. He told me we would just do a second round to cover the bumps and we were ok to do it 3 months post opp. Unfortunately that’s not how fat transfers work, and a second round just overfilled me, gave me LARGER bumps, and looking freakishly older. I had 2 pockets of fat on one eye, causing what looks like cellulite on my face. I asked him to dissolve as much as he could, and I felt not only dismissed, but rushed to get out of there. He just gave me 1 poke of a steroid shot, and I had to stop him from leaving and see that he missed the entire “worm like” conjunction in my eye. The steroid shot did nothing after the fluid let up. I went back in 4 times for steroid shots. Nothing worked, and I continually got dismissed. He then said I needed to come back in 6 weeks after my final follow up. I left crying, knowing I had at least 6 weeks to wait with a messed up face, and couldn’t smile in photos without having 3 bulges of fat that would show through in my under eyes. Not to mention, my legs from the liposuction are also ruined. 4 days after my second post opp, his nurse took the stitches out of my hips where they got the fat from, after I told her they weren’t ready. I’m no doctor, but they were still tender. She told me she was just checking on them, but then accidentally snipped one and played it off like it was ready. By the time I got home I was gushing blood from both holes, and they told me there was nothing they could do about it. Now my incision points are dime sized prominent scars for something that was very avoidable. All to say, do not go to a consultation and take their word at face value. I’m now undergoing a revision and full lower blepharoplasty to reverse the damages of this undereye fat transfer.
