Tae Woon Chong, MD

Dr. Tae Chong, Chief of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Rush University Medical Center, is the most competent, caring, and conscientious doctor I have ever encountered. My experience with Dr. Chong began after my partner ruptured an Achilles tendon and received a dangerous and aggressive infection after repair surgery at another Chicago area orthopedic hospital. After a failed second surgery and weeks of intravenous antibiotics to clear the infection, it spread rapidly across her entire lower leg. Desperate at this point, we were referred to Doctor Chong at Rush to save her lower leg. Dr. Chong saw her on an urgent basis and immediately teamed with an orthopedic surgeon to remove the rupture-repair hardware, adjacent tissue and tendon that harbored the infection. He then closed the wound using an innovative grafting technique that put less stress on her body than would have been the case with a conventional approach. And she healed much faster as a result! We can't thank him enough!
