I underwent a panniculectomy with this surgeon after multiple preoperative consultations in which I repeatedly and explicitly discussed the specific outcome I wanted to avoid. I was assured on more than one occasion, including immediately before surgery during preoperative marking, that my umbilicus would be relocated as discussed. The postoperative result was the exact opposite of what had been agreed upon.
When I raised concerns afterward, I was given differing explanations for why the surgical plan changed, including being told I had supposedly agreed to the change while under anesthesia, which I strongly dispute. Upon later reviewing my medical records, I found that important portions of our preoperative discussions were either omitted or documented in ways that did not reflect my recollection of events.
What has been most distressing has not only been the surgical outcome itself, but the experience of feeling unheard and dismissed when attempting to seek clarity and corrective care. As a Black woman and healthcare professional, this experience deeply affected my trust in the medical system and reinforced how important it is for patients, and particularly people of color, to research providers carefully, document conversations thoroughly, and advocate strongly for themselves throughout the surgical process. I encourage prospective patients to request written summaries of consultations, keep personal records of discussions and expectations, and ensure they fully understand how their consent and surgical plan are being documented before proceeding.

not a trustworthy doctor at all, unless you want to be lied to and have every request you make ignored, don’t go to her.
