Every doctor, nurse, and person who led me into surgery was very very helpful and so sweet and considerate. I am so grateful for everyone who helped me and participated in my surgery. They were all so supportive and understanding. I went in very comfortable with my doctors and had a lot of faith in their abilities. They are all very educated and so considerate and thoughtful of my personal needs. I am so lucky to have gone to them and gotten such great treatment. I would 10/10 recommend seeing them and would definitely go to them again if needed!! Dr Eagan was so so sweet.

Never had an issue. Received a consult and Dr Martin took his time to answer all my questions, professional and caring.

Broke fingers in auto accident and Dr. Rioux-Forker did surgery on me. He is very good and has a strong yet kind demeanor. He explains well what is going on and what he's reaching for. Feel good about my outcome.

This review is to help people. My advice. Confirm everything you are told. I didn't do that and now I'm still suffering permanent physical and mental anguish for that mistake. Had St. Luke's been honest about the doctor's qualifications I would have never agreed to the surgery. The doctor did the procedure on the wrong eyelid. “Doctor’s First Commandment: Do No Harm!” Hippocrates “Father of Medicine” Unfortunately not my experience. They wouldn't even give me a Patient Satisfaction Survey. That speaks for itself. Three years later, my eyelids are still damaged. The problem I went to St. Luke's to have fixed still exists. The doctor wanted to do a skin graft to my eyelids to repair the damage. I couldn't find out if he had eyelid graft experience. They wouldn't tell me so I declined. I asked for the most experienced doctor on staff. That doctor operated on the wrong eyelid. Then I found out from an outside source he did not specialize in eyelids. So many things I was told turned out to be not true. Like all the previous eyelid patient photos. Those photos did not exist. Then I received letter that he was not longer on staff and had left town. I asked to file a grievance and was told there was no grievance process. I found out later there was a complaint process. That and so much more. This review is for Saint Luke’s Plastic Surgery. Not Saint Luke’s Hospital. According to the hospital, Plastic Surgery is a separate entity. Therefore, the hospital could not provide a Patient Advocate. Patient’s Rights as described on the Saint Luke’s KC webpage did not apply to me as a Plastic Surgery patient. Everything in this review has been shared with Managers of the Plastic Surgery Dept. and the Hospital. I wrote this review to share a small part of my patient experience to help others. I went to Saint Luke’s Plastic Surgery to have a small amount of skin removed from my right upper eyelid. Eventually that skin would have protruded into my line of sight. There were no issues at all with my left upper eyelid (see photos). Now there is. The doctor offered to fix the damage with more surgery; including a skin graft. The problem now is Plastic Surgery won’t tell me if he has ever grafted body skin to an eyelid. They also won’t tell me if he has ever done upper eyelid surgery before mine. Before my surgery they told me emphatically he was experienced. Now they won’t confirm he has ever done an upper eyelid surgery, his training or board certifications. I later found out his specialty is doing skin grafts on the body. Dr. McEwan made a mistake removing the most skin from the wrong eyelid. He removed more skin from my left eyelid than my right eyelid. Just the opposite of what he had planned. Plastic surgery did agree with my idea to get a second opinion. I was going to see a doctor on their staff, but they wouldn’t tell me his (or the other doctor’s) upper eyelid experience. I cancelled the appointment. I decided to find an eyelid surgeon to fix the damage and pay for it myself. I consulted a doctor that fixes eyelid damage caused by disease, trauma, and botched surgeries. He could not reverse the damage because too much skin had been removed from my eyelid at Saint Luke’s Plastic Surgery. He did recommend that I do not let Dr. McEwan do a skin graft on my eyelid. “You will not like it”. I followed that doctor’s recommendation. He only works on eyes/eyelids. I asked how he thought this could happen. His opinion was that McEwan just got his numbers crossed. I sent an email to the Plastic Surgery Manager and Dr. McEwan to let them know what I found out. No response from Dr. McEwan. I asked if McEwan reported his mistake to the hospital. I was told he didn’t feel he did anything wrong and he felt bad about what happened to me. I thought doctors had to report mistakes to the hospital. After the surgery, they promised to get answers from Dr. McEwan’s nurse, if I agreed (and I did agree) to go back to give him another chance. Not true. They never gave me the answers, so I didn’t go back.

If I could I'd give no stars. This place will only see you if you have the right insurance. Whatever that means... i have 2 forms of insurance. However, even though it stated I have a copay, they said I would be a cash patient. They refused to see me because my insurance isn't correct. They refuse to send my records over to the other doctor I found that would do my hand surgery.I need surgery asap but they don't care because they don't have the right insurance.I would not send my worst enemy here.Let alone anyone else.
