I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience with Dr. Jamie Zampell and the extraordinary care I received during my breast cancer reconstruction. I underwent a lumbar arterial perforator flap procedure, which is an incredibly complex and specialized microsurgical surgery requiring exceptional skill, precision, and artistry. Recipients 'Miracle worker' does not adequately express my feelings about Dr. Jamie Zampell. After a diagnosis of breast cancer, and the news that I would need a unilateral mastectomy, I was told by two plastic surgeons- at UCSD(hometown) and UCLA- that I was not a candidate for DIEP flap surgery(I am elderly and fairly thin). The news was beyond disappointing -until Dr. Alice Chung, my breast surgical oncologist at Cedars Sinai, referred me to Dr. Jamie Zampell. After scouring many websites and reviews, and looking at a thousand pictures of reconstructed breasts, I knew that Dr. Zampell was the plastic surgeon I wanted. Her work stands out above the rest. Additionally, and very crucial to the breast reconstruction process, Dr. Zampell is a skilled microsurgeon, crucial to any kind of flap surgery(reattaching nerves/blood vessels, etc.) Before my mastectomy, I made an appointment to see Dr. Zampell, and my husband and I drove to Los Angeles from San Diego. It was the first of many trips(thanks Dana and everyone in the office for making this all possible). That appointment is when I met my miracle worker-at a very early morning office visit in Beverly HIlls. After a very thorough exam, and a long discussion about my desired outcome, Dr. Zampell assured me she could do the DIEP surgery I was hoping for. I cried tears of joy when I left the office. Throughout this process, Dr. Zampell has answered my endless questions, and has explained everything in detail, and with great clarity. She explained what I could expect after the mastectomy, during and after the DIEP surgery, and the multiple steps in the reconstruction and revision process(including possible complications). I have never felt rushed, or that my questions were silly or unimportant. Her PA, Akvile, is also amazing, very knowledgeable, and is an indispensable asset. After the DIEP surgery, I was followed very closely in the hospital by Dr. Zampell and Akvile, as well as during all the follow up appointments. I was also able to send any pictures, questions, or concerns to a special phone line that was available, and I received prompt responses from Dr. Zampell or Akvile. The DIEP surgery was followed by a revision surgery several months later- to create symmetry with the other breast and to add finishing touches to the reconstruction. The results of the DIEP and the revision are amazing- Dr. Zampell is truly a very skilled surgeon -and very much a perfectionist. She has a tremendous aesthetic eye, and it shows in her work. Dr. Zampell took my very difficult case and created a miracle- reconstructing a beautiful, and natural-looking breast and NAC to match the opposite side, with the added bonus of a great tummy tuck! I have had several doctors and physical therapists comment on the awesome results. But equal to her amazing artistic and surgical skills, is what an incredible, kind, caring, and empathetic person Dr. Zampell really is. She truly is my miracle worker. I would recommend her without hesitation.

I chose Dr. Zampell after interviewing multiple plastic surgeons in LA for my double mastectomy and reconstruction. She had an excellent reputation and the office was great. I knew I would be in good hands. In particular, I chose her for her microsurgical skills as I was considering DIEP flap reconstruction. Nearly six months after my initial surgery, I have now completed my DIEP flap and am very happy with the results so far. It is still early and I will need phase 2 to refine everything, but every practitioner who has seen me is impressed by how things look which I take to be a great testament to her skill. The office can occasionally get a little busy with some waiting involved, but I think that is a reassuring sign that her bustling practice proves she is getting great results! Highly recommend.

The best experience with Dr Zampell and her staff. Going through reconstruction surgery with Dr. Zampell. Had my first surgery done. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to her and her team for taking care of me and guiding me through the process. The amount of time the doctor, Nurse Practitioner, office administrator spent with me to explain things and navigate me thru the operation and recovery is incredible. Every call I made and every question I had was answered with attention and patience. I am beyond fortunate to be their patient.
