I am sorry to hear some poor reviews. Therefore I thought I would express my own. I had reconstructive breast surgery (DIEP) after a double mastectomy after my second diagnosis of breast cancer five years apart. My reconstruction was in January, 2016. The first time I had cancer I had radiation. I was told that the radiation may affect the outcome of my plastic surgery....Dr. Manahan did an incredible job. I have been told by a new oncologist in Pittsburgh (AHN) that the reconstruction looks great. Dr. Manahan's PA at the time was Laura Gavin and she was incredible too. Dr. Manahan has a very caring disposition which always made me very comfortable in a very worrisome situation. I had other consults (Penn) before choosing Dr. Manahan and I have never regretted my decision to go to Dr. Manahan. I cannot thank Dr. Manahan enough for a surgery that had such a great outcome. ALL the staff at Johns Hopkins were incredible as well. The nurses were so caring ,and my husband, who was in health administration elsewhere, was extremely impressed with all the care I received.

I had surgery by Dr. Michele Manahan and was left with trauma and complications. I went in for a breast reduction surgery. Everything was fine, but at the same time unclear about how the surgery may need revisions and basic at home directions never reviewed. This doctor did the surgery and gave me no drains to drain any extra blood from my breast. I had to go to the ER two times. My left breast was leaking old blood. I was given many towels and pads to try and stop the bleeding. I ended up with a bacterial infection and needed a blood transfusion. Dr. Manahan had to do emergency surgery to remove excess blood from both breasts and was given drains after the fact. I reported the incident to Johns Hopkins, but they denied that Dr. Manahan did any wrong doing. I’m very sad with the results of my breast reduction. I will have to seek another surgeon for revisions. I do not suggest surgery from Dr. Michele Manahan or Johns Hopkins Plastic Surgery department.

Do not recommend Dr. Michele Manahan for many reasons. She has a habit of canceling in-person visits for video visits when a patient does not want it. Also, she could not properly communicate the possible complications/ outcomes and possibilities of the surgery. Some decisions were made by this surgeon that the patient was not aware of and without patient consent, as a result, the outcome of the simple surgery was bad with some other damage done to other part of the body.
