Dr. Collins did such a great job on my breast reduction and lift. I am so pleased with the results, my neck and back were immediately relieved. I'm currently 4WPO and healing so well, and a lot quicker than I had anticipated. It really was a smooth recovery, minimal pain killers needed for about 3-4 days after surgery, and then managed with CBD and Tylenol/Advil. I will recommend Dr. Collins and the Mercy team to anyone looking to have breast reconstruction or work done. His bedside manner was very comforting and he answers all questions in depth, all while treating patients like people rather than being focused on the billing and/or financial aspect of the surgery. Melissa (Dr. Collins surgical coordinator) was very helpful in general. She made the scheduling very easy and stress free, even rescheduling (sooner) due to work conflicts. She made sure that my FMLA forms were completed for my time off of work. She also was very reassuring with the insurance approval process, and she made taking before photos a little less uncomfortable by lightening the mood a bit. Nan (Dr. Collins PA) was also really great and thorough when I had a lot of healing and recovering questions at 1WPO. She made sure that I knew the results of my pathology report and what I needed to do to promote healing. Overall very happy with the care I received at Mercy, can't say I hope to 'be back' but in the event that I need any plastic or reconstructive surgery - Mercy would be my first choice.

I had a nice size keloid removed from under my breast and I must say that I am pleased with the results. Dr Kolk was professional, patient, and personable. He made me feel comfortable when I met with him for my initial consultation. He is very knowledgeable and experienced in his field. My recovery was fast and I experienced very little discomfort. I highly recommend him.

Everyone at Mercy is just so wonderful! Dr. Collins is the best! Melissa, surgical coordinator, always goes out of her way to help me with scheduling as I am not always in the state. Thank you to all!

The doctor was very easy to talk to went over all my options and I let her know what direction I was going in before I make that final decision look forward to working with her when all my goals are met. Didn't give a five only because there was a long wait in the waiting room before I was called back.

My consult with Chang and his surgical coordinator a few years ago felt inhumane. Recently, the riddle me this inappropriateness of the front desk scheduler was unacceptable. The scheduler’s behavior felt manipulative and very problematic. I already have an appointment scheduled with Dr. Nigro on April 8 for a breast consultation. I was simply trying to schedule a separate consultation with Dr. Volker Kolp for my abdomen at the same location. These are two different concerns and I am entitled to decide which surgeon I consult for each issue. The scheduler repeatedly told me that one doctor would “do everything.” That is not what I consent to and it is not how surgical consent works. No surgeon performs procedures on parts of the body that a patient has not authorized. When I asked to schedule the second consultation, the scheduler repeatedly said “Do you still want the appointment with Dr. Nigro? Then see you April 8th,” OVER AND OVER while ignoring my request to schedule an appointment with Dr. Volker Kolp. After several rounds of this, which I considered to be malicious on her behalf and extremely misguided in parameters of what constitutes acceptable behavior, I said to her: "What is this? What are you doing?" She admitted that she was deliberately not giving me an appointment with Dr Vander Kolk because she truly believes that patients have no basic rights and that one surgeon, in this case Dr Nigro, would be addressing all of my surgical concerns over my body, without my permission or consent. My insurance company rep attempted to contact the office to help resolve this issue, this receptionist's misguided behaviors that violates my rights as patient. Those calls went to voicemail. I have now reached out to Mercy patient services to address the situation. Preventing a patient from scheduling a consultation with another surgeon in the same practice for a separate concern is inappropriate and unprofessional. I hope the practice corrects this behavior. The receptionist did ask me what time I would like to see Dr Nigro initially. She didn't ask what day. She printed out a paper and said: Here's your appointment. She's scheduled my appointment on a day without my consent. Update: Now there's an appointment in the Mercy portal for Dr Vander Kolp at the same office location as Dr Nigro, 227 ...Place, Baltimore, on a day and time without my consent. This creates more confusion and work for me as I'm going to have to cancel that appointment. This scheduler's behavior, young woman with long brunette hair, is radically disrespect in it her attempts to violate my rights as a patient, which she aggressively applied. Clearly, she doesn't understand and lacks the capacity to do her job.
