Dr. Lazaro Cardenas

I am now 3 months post-op and felt this was the right time to write a proper, honest review of my experience and results. I had forehead advancement, a brow lift, and an upper blepharoplasty. One of the main reasons I chose Dr. Lazaro Cardenas was because so many reviews described his work as natural. While others may see this as a limitation, I saw it as a clear sign of his skill. I wasn’t looking to completely change my face, just to improve an insecurity while still looking like myself. I think a lot of people go into surgery with unrealistic expectations of what can be achieved in a single procedure, and that was something I appreciated about my experience with him. During my Zoom consultation, he was very reassuring and took the time to explain the entire process clearly. I also had a large birthmark in my temple area that did not grow hair, and he was the only surgeon who felt confident removing it, which meant a lot to me and further solidified my decision. From the moment I landed to the moment I left, I felt completely comfortable and taken care of. Stephanie, from his team, was incredible, she handled transportation to and from appointments, translated for me at the hospital and pharmacy, and assisted with anything I needed during my stay. Having that level of support made the experience so much less stressful, especially traveling alone. At my pre-op appointment, everyone on his team was warm, friendly, and welcoming. They continuously checked in on how I was feeling and reassured me that my mom would be kept updated throughout the surgery since I was there alone. Dr. Cardenas once again took his time, answered all of my questions, and carefully analyzed my face to ensure the best possible outcome. The hospital team during surgery and my overnight stay was amazing. The anesthesiologist (whose name I unfortunately don’t recall) was especially wonderful. She came in beforehand, talked with me, explained everything clearly, and truly put me at ease. The nurses took excellent care of me and made the first 24 hours post-op as comfortable as possible. As for my results and recovery, I am extremely happy with how everything looks at 3 months post-op, and I know I am still healing. My eyelid scars are barely noticeable. The forehead incision is healing well. This area has thicker skin and heals differently, but I truly believe that by the one-year mark it will be very hard to notice. I highly recommend Dr. Lazaro Cardenas. He is an incredibly skilled surgeon who takes pride in his work, and he is supported by an exceptional team that truly cares about their patients from start to finish.

Firstly, i dont leave a lot of reviews in general. I flew in from New Jersey, USA with my girlfriend to do a type 3 forehead reduction. I was picked up from airport by doctor's team and brought to the recovering hotel. The entire time I was there I was picked up by one of doctor's driver Stephanie and carried around, I didn't have to take taxi. Surgey went better than i expected. Its been 2 weeks now since I did the surgery and everything is coming on just great. I'd recommend anyone to doctor's Cardenas. Also i must add that the driver from doctor's cardenas office will translate for you on your appointments if you can't speak Spanish. Also everyone in the facility was very nice, a positive experience all around. I'd highly recommend Dr Cardenas. Dr also did a follow up with me by video call as well. Dr Lazaro is a good surgeon, you may have to ask him to be a little aggressive but he does a good job.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cardenas since 2021 for lip silicone removal and revisions. While he clearly has many years of surgical experience, some of my results left me with concerns. A few of the incisions and scars did not seem to reflect the level of precision I expected from a surgeon with decades of practice, which made me wonder if parts of my care were handled by trainees rather than by him directly. In August 2025, I returned for what I hoped would be my final procedure. At my pre-op appointment, I simply asked for reassurance that he would perform the surgery himself. Instead of reassurance, his demeanor changed, and he told me that if I didn’t fully trust him, he would prefer to cancel the surgery. After being under his care for over four years, I felt this response was dismissive and manipulative. I did receive a refund, but I lost weeks of planning, travel costs, and the opportunity to complete the treatment. Although some revisions had improved my appearance over time, the way this last situation was handled was extremely disappointing. A patient–surgeon relationship should always be built on trust, and outcomes such as noticeable asymmetry are concerning from a surgeon with decades of practice. For anyone considering surgery here, think carefully. Find a surgeon who values transparency, respect, and a patient's well-being above their own ego.

I did surgery here about two years ago for forehead/brow shave. I still have a sour taste in my mouth. Didn’t see much of a change to be honest.. disappointed but it’s surgery it’s not always going to be perfect. I used the scar creams and still not happy with the results. Also my scalp gets a tingly, numb feeling randomly now.. kind of annoying. Felt like he didn’t really care that much and just saw me as a number. His workers kept calling me “he” in front of my family..many times. Not just a slip up. You know it’s bad when the taco stand I frequented in Ensenada has more respect than a supposedly professional surgeons staff. They were also talking bad about me in Spanish (I look white but I’m from Guadalajara) until one of them was like “guys they speak Spanish fluently” No follow up or anything.. I’m about to get work done for real this time and never even for a second considered going through that crappy experience again. Do not recommend.
