I arrived at 930 am and had a CT scan and procedure at 6 pm. Geraldine was my ER nurse. What a little Rockstar! All the doctors and nurses were caring, compassionate and quick to respond. This is like the Canadian Healthcare we used to have. All of my questions were answered about post care and medications. My bill, scans and notes were ready upon discharge. Amazing! Amazing!! Muchos gracias :)

Hospitals seem nice staff friendly Surgical team seem very good all women, surgeon and anesthesiologist. I believe everything went well with surgery and care and I slipped and fell in the shower getting out right before discharge. They did nothing but look at bandages before I left and now black and blue and tendons and muscles on the opposite leg Are injured, but hopefully recover without surgery hospital was not willing or friendly enough to understand and be able to help out with Score or for Racing # insurance which cover the initial fee but had no care too. Make sure I was OK after slipping and flooring in the bathroom before I was discharged now I’m paying the price for that with no help from racing insurance with Score for the hospital very disappointed with final results and injured more leaving hospital

Horrible experience here. If you are a foreigner, do not go to this hospital in an emergency. We used emergency room about nine months ago and had an amazing experience. All of the staff was caring and attentive. At that time we had no idea what to expect. My husband had just had a major surgery in Tijuana to remove a tumor from his neck. We had been staying on our boat in Ensenada and two days after coming home to the boat he had acute gastritis from meds. They gave him fluids, medication for nausea and pain, CT scan and all was well. Initial deposit in emergency room was $500 USD. No problem. When all was said and done we owed $13 USD. Walked out of emergency room paying a total of $513 USD. Great people, great experience. Well...recently while on our boat in Ensenada, he had a similar problem that we went to emergency room for. We expected to have a similar experience. This time however, there were two guys that were working in administration that spoke English and immediately asked for a deposit of $1000 USD. No problem, maybe things have changed some in a few months. But they continued to ask for exorbitant amounts to do the same things they did last time. They did a CT scan, gave fluids, and meds for nausea and pain. In the end we paid $6000 USD for the same thing we had previously paid $513 for. When I questioned why, they had no reason, they were threatening, kept saying that if we cant afford it, they would transport him somewhere else. Threatened that he may have to have hospital stay, or emergency surgery and I would have to pay more and more before they could do anything else for him. They said they could see his previous record but wouldn't give me a copy. I had to fight for a copy of services and test results this time. The charges the first time were directly from Velmar hospital. This time the charges came from a medical group out of new Jersey USA. None of it made sense and there were no explanations. If you are a foreigner, DO NOT GO HERE. I dont know if the two English speaking administrators pocketed all the money, I dont know if I was robbed. But because I had to sign paperwork to treat him in a stressful emergency situation, I probably have absolutely no recourse. I dont think as a foreigner I can call the police. Horrible human decency at this hospital. Before this experience, we had so many great experiences with the medical process here in México. If we wanted to get robbed by the medical field we could stay in the USA. Edit: thanks for the generic response. My husband's review got the same response fron the hospital. I have sent numerous emails to the hospital and requested to speak to someone about this issue. No one from the hospital has responded. I would like a response to my requests to talk with someone in authority at that hospital. Owner, manager, etc.

I went in for cervical disc replacement surgery on August 5. The Velmar insurance person, Jonathan, after speaking with the surgeon told me the surgery would cost $25000 USD. In mid September I received a bill mailed to my house for over $99000 USD!! I complained to Dr Duenas (the surgeon), Jonathan, and the MedX agent and no one is interested in helping me. They are hoping to get the full $99000 from the insurance company and if they don't pay then they expect me to come up with the money. For comparison, Dr. Hans Ruiz Serna of Tijuana charges $20000 USD for the same surgery. Even in the US it would cost under $50000 USD. This is criminal activity. Stay away from Velmar!
