Communication and coordination before and after the appointment were handled by Kubra, and she was excellent. She was kind, efficient, responsive and genuinely caring. I really liked her and felt supported when speaking with her, particularly when I wasn’t feeling well. Unfortunately, the experience with Dr Handan herself was the complete opposite. Before travelling, I had a brief video consultation with Dr Handan where I clearly explained my concerns. I was reassured and told these wouldn’t be an issue. On the day of the appointment, the in-person consultation felt extremely rushed - no more than 10 minutes. I was marked up very quickly and taken straight into the treatment room. During that short discussion, I again raised my concerns and suggested alternatives. I was told that they would go ahead as planned so I trusted her professional judgment. Immediately after the treatment, I noticed very large and obvious swelling. It was significant enough that I assumed it must be normal, as surely someone would have noticed otherwise. When Kubra came to check on me, I showed it to her and was given a garment. The following day, I began feeling unwell whenever pressure was applied to that area. I contacted Kubra, and to her credit, she came to see me straight away. However, there was no clear explanation given as to what the issue might be, and the area was actively manipulated - something I later learned should absolutely not have been done. At my follow-up appointment with Dr Handan, she appeared very unconcerned, even after I showed her how the swelling and discolouration had spread significantly. Once I returned to the UK, I was referred to A&E. I was diagnosed with a serious complication that required medical attention. I was seen by multiple doctors, all of whom independently commented that the aftercare and handling of the situation had been very poor. To make matters worse, more than six months on - beyond the suggested waiting period (I kept being told to wait 12 weeks) - I am still unhappy with the final outcome, as well as scarring. Doesn't feel like much difference! While Kubra was genuinely supportive and did her best within her role, the clinical experience itself was distressing, poorly managed and very disappointing. *UPDATE - and after leaving this review, Kubra got in touch with me to say my review of 1* was unfair because of how she supported me. I have been very clear in my review of Kubra vs Dr Handan. This profile is for Dr Handan - the surgery, the results, issues and her bedside manner. For Kubra to message me basically asking me to change my review, saying it upset her - very annoying on top of everything else. Then I blocked the whatsapp as I don't want to have to deal with that, and she messaged me off another number trying to show me before and after results (the afters under a month post treatment). The 1 star was for Kubra alone, now would give a 0* if I could! (I have been clear in my intent of the review above not to disclose the treatment I had).
